Eugenia AyrianDear Colleagues,

On behalf of the California Society of Anesthesiologists (CSA) Educational Programs Division, we are excited to invite you to join us in San Francisco for our 2017 Annual Anesthesia Meeting & Workshops, to be held April 27-30, 2017.

2017 Annual Design Announcement

"New advances in the world of Anesthesiology" is the theme that has guided us while developing the program.

This year’s program will not only provide the tools needed to deliver high-quality patient care, but will also address how to shape anesthesiology care for the future.

Expert speakers will be joining us from throughout California and across the nation, including Drs. Warren Sandberg, Ronald G. Pearl, Gerard R. Manecke, Jay B. Brodsky, David J. Clark, Steven Haddy, Karen Sibert, Laurence Chu, Adrian Gelb, John Brock-Utne, Edward Mariano and Joseph Neal.

We will be talking about important issues of obesity, future perspectives of critical care, management of coagulopathy, genetics and human pain. The program will provide sessions grouped by specialty on new advances in pediatric, neurosurgical, cardiac, and regional anesthesiology.

CSA’s mission is to spark innovation and professional collaboration through education. We set out to emphasize the most positive aspects of CSA education—reflection on the ever-growing complexity of our patients, emphasis on interdisciplinary learning and delivering collaborative care with a multidisciplinary approach.

Speaker at the 2016 Annual Meeting

In addition to the wide variety of clinical topics, we will be focusing on new concepts of enhanced patient management after surgery. These include discussions between two sides of evidence-based medicine (Drs. Sandberg and Sibert), goal-directed fluid therapy (Dr. Manecke), patient safety, and the digital future of perioperative medicine (Dr. Chu); all of which will emphasize the anesthesiologist’s role in enhancing the quality of patient care. We will also be discussing legislative and political challenges in anesthesia care and MACRA implementation.

State of the art workshops with the use of digital simulation, and hands-on experience with the utilization of live models will provide participants with hands-on, small-group didactics on the following topics:

  • Perioperative Ultrasound: Heart, lungs and beyond
  • Ultrasonography: The “standard” for vascular access and monitoring
  • Intensive US-Guided Regional Anesthesia & Interventional Acute Pain Medicine

The three workshops are designed to expand scope of practice, as well as foster the exchange of acquired skills amongst professionals in the given area.

One of the most exciting highlights of this meeting will be the launch of the first annual Anesthesia Abstract Presentations. The abstracts will be presented as oral and visual presentations during CME sessions. This will be an excellent opportunity to share recent and relatively unknown research with your fellow colleagues and peers!

CSA's 2016 Annual Meeting attendees

A wine and cheese reception with exhibitors will be an excellent addition to our program, giving anesthesiology colleagues a chance to interact and share their experiences with each other.

Attending this event can earn professionals up to 24 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.

The 2017 CSA annual meeting is set to be both an excellent educational experience for anesthesiologists, as well as an opportunity to network with peers in our scientific community. We look forward seeing you all in San Francisco!
