CSA Online First

CSA Online First is a weekly blog featuring insights from CSA members themselves.

Edited by Rita Agarwal, MD, FAAP, with contributions from CSA’s Committee on Professional and Public Communications, Online First is a place where knowledge and opinion from any one of our 3200 plus physician-anesthesiologist members can be shared, discussed and deliberated to advance the specialty of anesthesiology, the practice of medicine and society in general.

Mark Your Calender: ASAPAC’S DOC Challenge is June 21!

Paul_YostFirst, THANK YOU to everyone who responded to our personal request for donations to ASAPAC during last year’s Day of Contributing (DoC) Challenge!

Thanks to your generous contributions, 124 CSA members contributed in a 24-hour period—surpassing our goal of 100!

While this is great news, we still fall behind several smaller states for amount of money raised.

One easy way to get California on the map within the ASA and ASAPAC is through the ASAPAC Day of Contributing (DoC) challenge.  For 24 hours only, this THURSDAY, June 21, ASAPAC will hold a contest to see which states can raise the most money in 24 hours and which states can get the greatest number of their members to contribute.

While this competition is a great way to engage ASA members and state societies, theCSA-Save-the-Date-asapac DOC importance of the DoC Challenge goes far beyond that. It is a critical line of support for ASAPAC, the ASA's federal political action committee (PAC), which is the only national PAC dedicated to advancing the interests of anesthesiologists and promoting patient safety. The better ASAPAC does, the more our message will be heard and the broader our audience becomes.

To show our support for ASA’s important advocacy work in Washington, D.C., CSA’s 2018 goal is to DOUBLE our 2017 number of member contributions to 250, raising a total of $45,000. Can we count on your support to help us reach our goal?

The state with the largest number of contributors and the state with the largest amount contributed will be deemed the winners of the ASAPAC "DoC" Challenge. Those states will receive special recognition in ASAPAC publications and presentations.

CSA DoC Challenge Leader Board

During the day, and after the challenge, we will publish a leader board list of all CSA members who contribute—don’t be left off the list!

When to contribute

The CSA will email all members a link when the challenge officially launches at 12:00 am ET with a link to where you can contribute to the DoC Challenge and show your support for our shared specialty.

Thank you in advance for your support and engagement. Let’s work together to make California #1!
